Service 2

Gidleigh Church Sunday 12th September 2021

Festival Compline

Join us for a meditative service of Compline in the beautiful candlelit setting of Gidleigh Church, opening with an instrumental prelude specially composed by Composer-in-Residence Harry Baker, and performed by the Festival String Quartet.

During the service, Ensemble-in-Residence the Corvus Consort will sing the medieval plainchant that forms part of the liturgy, as well as music by Jacob Obrecht, James MacMillan and Sergei Rachmaninov. A beautiful and moving way to end our long weekend of music-making.
